Warhounds Join Gaylord Youth on the Ice for a Night of Skills, Smiles, and Sharks & Minnows
July 30, 2025-GAYLORD, MI – Members of the Northern Michigan Warhounds traded in their game faces for big smiles last night as they laced up alongside the Gaylord Area Hockey Association (GAHA) for an evening of fun, teaching, and community-building.
The Warhounds spent the night sharing skills and drills, working with the young players on skating, passing, and teamwork – and quickly discovered that they weren’t the fastest skaters on the ice. In a spirited game of Sharks and Minnows, the kids’ speed and determination left the Warhounds chasing in their wake.
But for the Warhounds organization, the night was about much more than just hockey.
“Hockey teaches discipline, teamwork, and resilience,” said a team representative. “It’s not just about scoring goals – it’s about giving kids confidence, helping them grow, and showing that this sport is about community as much as competition.”
The Warhounds believe that growing the game in Gaylord starts with nights like these – building connections, inspiring young players, and reinforcing that hockey can teach life lessons that reach far beyond the rink.
📍 Thank you to the Gaylord Area Hockey Association for inviting us out and reminding us why we love this game. The future of hockey in Gaylord is looking bright!
