Warhounds Join Community in Honoring Mike Wilde at Memorial Golf Outing

Gaylord, MI – June 22, 2025

This past weekend, members of the Northern Michigan Warhounds laced up their golf shoes in place of their skates as they took part in the Knights of Columbus Memorial Golf Outing in honor of the late Mike Wilde—a beloved figure in the Gaylord community and a passionate supporter of local sports.

Known for his love of both hockey and football, Mike Wilde was a familiar face around Gaylord athletics, often seen cheering on local teams and chatting with players, fans, and families alike. His enthusiasm and unwavering support helped fuel the spirit of Gaylord hockey, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Seven members of the Warhounds organization joined dozens of community members on a beautiful summer day to pay tribute to Wilde’s memory. With clubs in hand and smiles on their faces, the team showed that their commitment to Gaylord extends beyond the rink.

“It was a privilege to be part of this event,” said Andrew Dibble, Warhounds owner. “Mike represented everything that’s great about this town—loyalty, passion, and love for the game. We were proud to show up not just as a team, but as part of the community he cared so much about.”

The outing was organized by the Knights of Columbus, whose member Roger Markham also serves as the Warhounds' scorekeeper and in-game announcer. Markham’s dual role as a community leader and vital part of the Warhounds game day experience made the connection all the more meaningful.

The event served as a reminder that the legacy of individuals like Mike Wilde continues to live on—not just in memory, but in the spirit of the teams and organizations he helped uplift.

As the Warhounds gear up for another hard-hitting season in the American Premier Hockey League, they do so with the memory of supporters like Wilde at the heart of everything they do.
